It's a Hard Knock Life

Oh, where has the time gone? I’m coming up on my first midterms of my first semester of my first year of college. I remember 6 months ago when it just seemed like a possibility. I also remember 3 months ago we were really in a financial and situational bind. Janan and I were a little stressed and trying to figure out which road to take. Now here we are 3 months later and things are much better. We’ve added a lot of ‘good’ stress, but more importantly, we’ve eliminated a lot of bad stress, by the grace of God.

I was talking to my assigned mentor at school, who also happens to be the President of Campus Crusade for Christ, the other day and was telling him how so many times in my life I’ve seemed to be in a very low place or in a very difficult situation. But so many times (every time, actually), the Lord works things out even better than how we thought it would if things would have went the way we wanted them to. Did that make sense? Oh well, anyway, God has just always been good and faithful (even in our unfaithfulness). And as I look back now, I can see what the Lord was allowing to happen to us so that we could learn the lessons He wanted us to learn. So, now when things get tough and there seems to be no light around, I remember of all those times when the Lord seemed to be no where around, but He was right there watching over us and guiding us to a better life.

Things have been very stressful lately, but what is funny is our lives seem happier and filled with purpose. When you’re walking in the will of God, there is peace. No matter how high the mountains or how strong the storms, God is always right in the middle of it bringing peace to your life.

I love my children who teach me patience and unconditional love. I love my wife who teaches me about commitment and hard work. I love my Savior who has rescued me from both a devil’s hell and an internal hell, but more importantly, who teaches me every day how to be a father, a husband, a friend, a son, a man.

Thank you all for your friendships and I pray blessings over all of you. God Bless!
